UK Holiday Entitlement Calculator
Simple statutory leave estimate for regular-hours workers; pay-period accrual for eligible irregular-hours workers.
This estimates ordinary working patterns only. If your case involves statutory or sick leave, carryover, bank holidays, leave-year adjustments, or contractual leave above 5.6 weeks, use the official calculator and your employer's records instead.
Irregular-hours mode uses 12.07% of hours worked per pay period, rounded to the nearest whole hour, for applicable leave years beginning on or after 1 April 2024. This estimate enforces an annual hour cap only if you enter an employer-confirmed value; the statutory 28-day equivalent must be interpreted for your working pattern. It does not automatically determine this cap, contractual enhancements, carryover, absence adjustments or Northern Ireland-specific rules. Verify with the official GOV.UK calculator before making employment decisions.
How UK holiday entitlement is estimated
For a regular work pattern, statutory holiday is generally 5.6 weeks of paid leave per year, capped at 28 days for a five-day-or-longer working week. For example, someone who works three days a week has an indicative full-year entitlement of 16.8 days (3 × 5.6).
For employment covering only part of a leave year, enter the calendar days employed and the total number of days in that leave year. This tool shows a simple calendar-day pro-rata illustration; your precise statutory entitlement can depend on employment dates, working arrangements and applicable rules.
Irregular-hours and part-year workers
For qualifying leave years starting on or after 1 April 2024, eligible irregular-hours and part-year workers can accrue holiday at 12.07% of hours worked in a pay period, rounded to the nearest whole hour. For example, 70 hours worked gives approximately 8 hours accrued. Enter an annual cap only when you have a confirmed equivalent in hours for your work pattern.
Holiday pay and entitlement are different calculations. Statutory leave, sickness, carryover and contractual benefits may require special handling. Check the official GOV.UK entitlement calculator for your circumstances, or explore the Leave Balance Calculator for a separate balance estimate.
