Frequently asked questions
How is the Saudi end-of-service award calculated?
Under Article 84 of the Saudi Labour Law, you get half a month’s wage for each of the first five years and a full month’s wage for each year after that. It is based on your last wage and is pro rata for part years.
Does resigning reduce the award in Saudi Arabia?
Yes. Under Article 85, a worker who resigns gets nothing with under two years of service, one third from two to five years, two thirds from five to ten years, and the full award at ten years or more. If the employer ends the contract, the full award is paid.
How is UAE gratuity calculated?
On the mainland, gratuity is 21 days of basic salary for each of the first five years and 30 days for each year after that. The daily wage is basic salary divided by 30, nothing is due under one year of service, and the total is capped at two years of basic salary.
Is this result official?
No. It is an estimate based on the standard rules. Contracts, free zones such as DIFC and ADGM, unpaid leave and special cases can change the amount, so confirm with your employer, the ministry or a qualified adviser.
